Content Type

The Content Type Filter is displayed at the top of the interface, underneath the search bar.



Upon upload, Canto will automatically organize files into All Files and one of six ways to filter, based on metadata such as file type, codec etc.


There are several Content Type filters besides the All Files album:


All files
Images
The Images Content Type contains assets such as:
  • .jpg
  • .jpeg
  • .png
  • .eps
  • .tif
  • .tiff
  • .orf (Olympus Raw File)
  • .nef (Nikon Raw File)
  • .cr2 (Canon Raw File)
  • .psd
  • .indd
Images are displayed in thumbnail preview by default.
Video

The Videos Content Type contains assets such as:

  • .mov
  • .mp4
  • .flv
  • .3gp

Videos can be streamed from their preview window. They are displayed as thumbnails by default.

Audio
The Audio Content Type contains assets such as:
  • .mpg
  • .flac
  • .wav
  • .M4a
  • .mp3

Audio files can be streamed from their Preview screen. They're displayed in List view by default.

Documents

The Documents Content Type contains assets such as:

  • .doc
  • .docx
  • .pdf
  • .xls
  • .xlsx
  • .html

Canto extracts text from most of these documents, making it searchable.

Presentations

The Presentations Content Type contains assets such as:

  • .ppt
  • .pptx

Canto automatically extracts text from presentations, making it searchable. These files are displayed in List view by default.

Others

Assets that are not images, videos, audio, documents, or presentations are assigned to the Others Content Type. This includes assets such as:

  • .exe
  • .zip 
  • 3D files

These files can still be managed, shared, and approved like any other file. They're displayed in List view by default.
