Set up External Connections

Restriction: You must be logged in as an admin or contributor with the Manage External Connections right to sync your external connection accounts with Canto and migrate files from Share folders to Canto.


Link your Canto account to external connections to add files from Google Drive, SharePoint, etc. to Canto.


Navigation

User Menu > Settings > Links & Connections > External Connections 


How to set up external connections

  1. Select any icon.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. You will be then prompted to sign in with your credentials for that external service in a new window.
    Note: If you need assistance with setting up the connection you can switch to the specific article for the connection you want to add
  4. Choose the folders and click Allow.

The files will then be viewable in Canto in the corresponding folder and labeled with the services logo.


Note: When you first sync your status may depict the following:


Once the sync is complete you will see the following statuses:

  • Done: All Assets have been successfully imported
  • Error: Sync is stopped due to an error 
  • Time Limit: Sync topped due to reaching 72 hour time limit

If there is an error, you will receive an email with more information. 


The following options will appear where you can unlink the folder and manually sync the folder. Also, you will be able to toggle the Auto-Sync feature. Auto-sync takes place on a 24-hour basis.
