Multi-Language Folders and Albums

This feature lets you create translations for folder/album names in your Canto account.

When you log in with a specific profile language, folders/albums will display the translated language in the folder structure. If the selected profile language doesn't have a translation for a specific folder/album, it will default to the name that was given when first creating the folder/album.

Example:
  • The album "Sales Material" has been translated into German and Spanish.
  • When a user with the profile language "German" logs in, Canto would display the German version of the album's name.
  • When a user with the profile language "Spanish" logs in, Canto would display the Spanish version of the album's name.
  • However, when a user with the profile language "Italian" logs in, Canto would display the default version of the album's name as Italian has not been translated yet.

You can translate folders and albums in all Canto spaces: Main Library, Portals, Style Guides, and Workspaces.

Add translations to a single folder or album

  1. Navigate to the folder/album details page and select the option to translate.
  2. Select the language you want, type the translation, and hit add. Your translation will then appear in the library under the selected language.

Edit translations of a single folder or album

    1. Navigate to the folder/album details page and select the option to translate. Select a language to edit its translation.
    2. Enter the updated translation and select Save

Update folder and album translations in bulk

  1. Navigate to Settings > Configuration Options > Folders & Albums
  2. Select ‘Export from CSV’ and the Canto space (main library or a workspace) to bulk translate folders/albums. Note that portals and style guide translations are picked up from the main library. You will receive a CSV to fill out.
  3. Fill out the language translations in the respective language column in the CSV.
  4. Once ready, select ‘Import from CSV’ and choose the CSV file from your computer to import. Translations will process into the selected space (main library or a workspace) in the Canto account. 5. You will receive an email notification as soon as the import of the CSV file has been finished.
